The Center convenes a special briefing to assess the November 2 US Congressional elections and discuss the implications for Armenia and Karabagh. ACNIS Director Richard Giragosian assesses the election, with a focus on the impact on US policy in the region and regarding Armenia more specifically, while ACNIS Senior Analyst Manvel Sargsyan presents an analysis of the latest developments in Karabagh. A group of visiting Georgian university students, which include undergraduate and graduate students from Georgian universities in Tbilisi and Batumi, also attend the event.

The Center convenes a roundtable discussion to assess the November 7 Azerbaijani parliamentary elections and discuss the implications for Armenia and Karabagh, ranging from the strengthening of an authoritarian regime in Baku to an escalation in the Azerbaijani leadership’s constant threats of war and the launch of military attacks against Karabagh. Participants in the discussion include several members of the Armenian parliament, leading analysts, policy specialists, and representatives from the diplomatic community, international organizations and the media.

ACNIS holds a special briefing to provide an overview of a new joint ACNIS project with “Impuls” Radio, an initiative that seeks to “elevate the debate” of critical issues by providing objective information and analysis covering a wide range of topics, ranging from issues of domestic politics to foreign policy.  During the event, ACNIS Director Richard Giragosian introduces the aims and plans for the new joint project, and Garegin Khumaryan and Gevorg Tadevosyan, both from “Impuls” Radio, provide a detailed overview of the project’s planned activities, format and programs.

ACNIS holds the fourth in its new monthly “Youth Forum” series and focuses on “Economics and Business” in Armenia, with a special added assessment of corruption.  Aimed at addressing issues of significance to Armenia’s youth, the Center holds a separate Youth Forum every month, focusing on a different topic of interest each time, in order to provide an effective platform for the youth.

As part of the Center’s regular series of closed monthly briefings, ACNIS holds its ninth closed briefing and focuses on the current developments in Armenia and the region.  This regular series of monthly briefings stems from the Center’s strategic goal to have ACNIS as the primary source of analysis and information for a target audience of representatives from the diplomatic community and international organizations in Armenia.

Giragosian participates in a workshop on the Armenian-Turkish relations entitled “Prospects for Reconciliation: Theory and Practice.” The event is organized by the “Hazarashen” Armenian Center for Ethnological Studies, and the German NGO “DVV International.”

Richard Giragosian attends and addresses at a conference on “European Perspectives in the Context of Eastern Partnership.” The event is organized by the International Center for Human Development,  the European Union, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, and the Mosaic Institute.
